Kayne sings traditional songs in English, French, and Irish and plays the concertina.  He has collaborated with a number of other artists, as well as being featured as a guest singer at sessions around Ireland.  Below can be found a selection of his most recent projects.

Crankie Traditional Song Project

Crankies are a form of visual art presented as a moving panorama to accompany narrative performance. This project, funded by the Arts Council and developed in collaboration with Emma Brierley, aims to explore the use of crankies in the performance of traditional music, song, and storytelling – especially within the context of bringing narratives across linguistic barriers with source material in Irish, French, and English.  Crankies hold significant potential in deepening appreciation for traditional songs and shared narratives in a multilingual context, as well as creating immersive and engaging listening experiences for audiences in general.

Past Projects

Rakish

A collaboration between concertina player/singer Kayne Coy and guitarist/singer Gavin McCabe, Rakish formed in 2018 in Edinburgh. Their debut album ‘The Flowing Bowl’ can be found here.

Kayne Coy & Dan MacDonald sing traditional songs of the sea from Ireland, Britain, and America. The two met at a singing session in Edinburgh in 2016 and immediately connected over a shared passion for traditional songs and vocal harmonies.  Listen here.
